BIO
Jorge”J.Duh” Camacho is a first generation Nicaragüenses artist/illustrator/muralist who grew into wearing these hats being self/community-taught. The San José born and raised artist uses the symbiotic duality of his creative process —fine art versus street— to create unique, vibrant, and witty works of art. J.Duh expresses the little wonders of life through sharp but explosive linework, with a cool sense of composition and a keen eye to depict social forces.
He experiments in punching up classic Americana hand-painted signage, and leans into the street cultures and styles he was involved in growing up. J.Duh enjoys the challenges that come with improvising upon any surprises that arise while painting, which pushes him to see out the final product in an organic raw fashion. He likes to think of this style and feeling of expression as similar to the in-the-moment freedom of skateboarding or graffiti art.
In the past few years J.Duh focused largely on creating public art. This includes large scale murals/signs done by hand, as well as large scale vector designs installed with vinyl. You can find his public work at places such as Bloomingdales (Valley Fair Mall), Eastridge Mall, Yahoo! (San José Campus), San José Giants Stadium, Oracle (San José Campus), POW!WOW! SAN JOSE, Nutanix (San José Campus), City of Palo Alto, California’s Great America, Voyager Coffee, Chromatic Coffee, Five Points Bar, MiniBoss, San Pedro Social, Depot St. Pizza (Morgan Hill) and more. Jorge’s work is not exclusive to the Bay Area and he has contributed to cities as far as Seattle, New Mexico, and even Nicaragua. When Covid restrictions and lock downs slowed his public work, he found himself putting more time into his fine art, creating full bodies of work with different themes, furthering his discovery as a new contemporary artist. Keep your eyes out for future art shows of these new works and other projects this young emerging artist has cooking up.
